TMJ related jaw pain

Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) is a condition characterized by pain in the joints at the top of the upper jaw. It is important to be aware of various signs and symptoms associated with TMD, including popping and clicking of the jaw, history of lockjaw, headaches, migraines, tinnitus, jaw pain, head pain, neck pain, ear pain, eye pain, shoulder pain, back pain, ear congestion, face pain, and reduced quality of life. If left untreated, these symptoms can lead to chronic pain.

Headaches and migraines are often common signs of TMJ problems, as the pain can radiate up the side of the head, migrate to the ears and around the eyes. It is also worth noting that the TMJs, located in front of the ears, can put pressure on the walls of the ear, causing pain, fullness, and congestion. Clicking and popping jaw joints are common in patients with TMJ disorders, and it is important to seek evaluation if symptoms progress, including inability to close or open the mouth, pain with opening or closing, or limited jaw movement. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is recommended to schedule an appointment for evaluation and potential treatment for TMD.
